Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher at a Title I art school, I see every day how much my students want to learn and express themselves. However, many of them come from families who simply cannot afford to provide all the supplies needed for a successful start to the school year. I want my students to walk into our classroom with excitement, not worry, and to know that everything they need to begin their learning journey is already here for them.
My goal is to ensure that every student in my classroom has access to the essential tools they need—without barriers or stress.
Basic supplies like journals, dry erase markers, cloth erasers, paint brushes, water bottles, headphones, construction paper, and rulers are more than just materials; they are the building blocks for creativity, hands-on learning, and academic growth. With journals and construction paper, my students can write, draw, and develop their ideas. Dry erase markers and cloth erasers will let them actively participate in lessons, solve problems together, and learn from mistakes in a low-pressure way. Paint brushes open up endless opportunities for artistic expression, while headphones help students focus and engage with digital learning without distraction. Water bottles keep them healthy and hydrated throughout the day, and rulers support math and art projects alike.
By providing these essentials, I am ensuring that every student can start the year ready to learn, create, and succeed—without the stress of having to bring these items from home. Your support means my students will have the freedom to focus on their growth, confidence, and imagination from the very first day.
