This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is made up of 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students in a Title I school of approximately 2383 students. Our school is in an urban setting with limited resources.
Our Wi-Fi access is often unreliable and our participation space is limited.
The ability to get the students moving and staying fit has become a challenge. The Fitness room we created over the past five years is improving but equipment that requires Wi-Fi often times can not be used.
Thankfully, the students have been very cooperative and try to keep moving despite our shortcomings.
My Project
The DVD players will help create exercise education stations in the Fitness Room and the classroom. Diversity in the classroom will be improved by allowing students to follow a program appropriate to their fitness level.
Students will be able to stay engaged and active even if the Wi-Fi goes down.
Technology is wonderful but can be a challenge when trying to help 50 to 60 students stay active in a fitness class when the Wi-Fi is not working properly and all other stations are full. Portable DVD players with the ability to play DVD's, CD's, and flash drives will allow students to stay active and on task with motivating exercise DVD's, music CD's, and circuit routines on flash drive!
