No Water Needed! Accessible Oceans in the Classroom
Help me give my students books, reference guides, slides, and specimens, so students of all abilities will have access to the wonder of marine science. With supplies, a mobile seat, and decorations too, class will feel truly immersive!

My Project
The goal of this project is to create an engaging and inclusive environment for all students to participate in, explore, and discover Marine Science through place based, sustainable, and culturally relevant community driven and hands on learning. As a second year teacher, I am building up my materials and making my classroom more accessible and welcoming for all of my students.
Students will access the wonders of our oceans through books, reference guides, dissection specimens, and microscope slides - allowing for complete accessibility for students of all abilities.
The slides & guides will inspire students to create their own and take a deeper look at marine life. The slides have break downs of our dissection specimens and are a great way for those who are uncomfortable with handling specimens to participate fully in the lab.
The reference guides and clipboards will be helpful when navigating local intertidal zones and recording data - plastic is splash proof! The guides and books will also help bolster our class library where students can borrow books to read after completing their work.
The sand frame helps depict how sediment will seperate over time based on density, something that is easier to understand when seen compared to just believing!
The misc. supplies and decorations will help create a themed, SEL centered, warm & welcoming room! The light will help add a level of calm and ease for students who need a minute to themselves or want to work in a more zen environment. The rolling stool will allow me to more easily assist students during work time and the clock will help keep kids on task (ours is broken!).
