This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every year, I start the first day of school with butterflies in my stomach, like most of my students. This year I know I will have those butterflies mixed with a pit in my stomach due to all the uncertainties.
This year should start to feel like a "normal" school year.
It is my job to be there, and to welcome them the best way I can in a very different teaching/learning environment. In our class, you will see students working independently, in centers, and in small groups eager to learn. These centers/small groups will look different but our attitudes, relationships and work ethic will be what matters. Students will have goals and I will be their to support them along the way. My goals will start to feel normal again (fingers crossed), and I know my class and parents will support me to get them accomplished.
My Project
Time For Kids will give the students the tools they need to help enhance their reading and writing skills. Time For Kids magazines are up to date with current topics.
Since our classroom library is limited, students will be allowed to bring these home and do their reading/writing activity without worrying they don’t have a book.
Students will have the option of digital resources or actual magazine. Students will not have to be concerned with not having their resources if the need for virtual learning. Students will access the magazines digitally.
In class or virtual they will use these magazines during centers. By having the same material students can form reading circles and share their thoughts on the topic. Students can also discuss the questions that go along with the magazines. Time For Kids will allow the kids time to work together to enhance their reading, writing and cooperative skills!
