My Students
In the past year, the students in my small rural Idaho high school have gone from feeling less than worthy to proud of the music program they are building and get to be a part of.
When I first got here last year, the equipment was in disrepair or non-existent. The students have learned to take pride in the equipment they do have and are some of the most kind-hearted and hard-working students I've had the pleasure to work with.
My Project
We are currently working on updating our very small percussion section. The best place for us to start is a triangle. At first, this may seem like an unimportant instrument, but with the right triangle the instrument can sing out over the band with a beautiful ring. It can make a piece of music go from good to great.
My students will be able to play this instrument with pride, not just in the music room, but at festivals and concerts as well.
I have personally played this brand of triangle and have found it to produce a very pleasing tone with a long sustain, which is exactly what we need!
