My Project
I love how much students at our high school love their library. Every day at lunch, it is packed with kids playing board games, socializing, reading, and doing work. Several students have requested more hands-on activities, so I am really excited to set up a beginner Makerspace.
My goal is for students to have hands-on activities that are engaging, fun, and useful in the library.
I have an area set up and ready to go; I just need some beginning supplies. With the Cricut and its accessories and tools, students will be able to make several different types of crafts for personal use or club gear. They can make iron-on t-shirt designs, vinyl stickers, and large letters for signage for Senior nights or sporting events. They can also make professional greeting cards and other crafts.
In addition to my usual suspects that are requesting the Makerspace, having a Makerspace will pull in students that don't normally come into the library by giving them an opportunity to make things. Utilizing the Cricut gives them experience in graphic design as well as improving hands-on experiential learning with tools.
