No Quality Without Technology For These Prodigies!

My students need a Chromebook so they can research, design and create artifacts that will challenge their learning experiences. Technology is an important aspect in all subject areas, but STEM/STEAM could never be successful without technology!

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Lu's classroom raised $390

My Students

In a room surrounded by animals and plants, my students enter our jungle of a classroom engulfed by science. The classroom is designed for exploration through research and learning, via hands-on activities. By the end of the year, I want my students to be at the forefront of a STEM education.

Each student is unique in their own way, which makes learning that much more special.

My students love learning about the ever-changing world of science and are captured by the fact that every day brings new discoveries in science. The school is a welcoming environment that encourages higher-level learning while supporting the students at every step. The school houses over fourteen hundred middle school students, who come from different ethnic backgrounds. In order to strengthen their learning experience, I want my students to utilize all the possible resources I can provide for them.

My Project

My students are so amazing at using science content and relating it to the real world. When we discuss things such as meteorological and geological disasters, they question how infrastructure can be improved to withstand these natural disasters. My junior scientists have been exploring the world of STEM by building structures out of index cards, straws, cups, etc. However, so many of them have been thinking outside of the box. They see that we have a 3D printer in the room but unfortunately, without laptops, they cannot delve into the world of 3D printing. I watch as their creativity grows and they are so excited to try new things. Amazingly, the internet is a powerful force in their learning and the things they can do on a laptop is astounding.

I never want to limit their creativity by not having the right supplies for them.

For many of my students, school is the only time for them to be able to use the internet and research. Public libraries do not open by the time some of them get out of school. I envision my students being able to use the laptops to create 3D creations, create posters, design prototypes, edit videos and so much more in order to make learning so much more powerful. Ideally, students would have one laptop each. However, we're more than happy to start with one and build from there!
