My Project
I'm a 5th grade teacher of 22 fabulous students. Multiple times a day I have my students asking for glue sticks, paper, pencils, crayons and erasers. Being a Title 1 school, many of my students come from families who struggle financially and it's a hardship for them to supply their student with classroom supplies that can help them become successful learners. My classroom budget purchases many of these basic supplies, but it doesn't leave room for much more.
No student should go without basic classroom supplies or feel inadequate because they don't have what they need to engage fully during instruction.
It's also a disruption to the class when students are trying to locate supplies. These classroom supplies would definitely help not only my students with their learning, but help their families who struggle to provide tools for learning.
