No Pencil Drama: Basic Supplies for Students

My students need to know that they can be successful and that learning continues with or without their pencil or other basic supplies

My Students

My students are an amazing group of mostly African American students that come from a diverse urban background from disenfranchised community in Baltimore City. Many are very sociable and intelligent, but at times many are lacking the basic organization and supplies and materials needed for year long success.

In the beginning of the school year, for the most part my students are prepared, by the end of the first quarter, students lose momentum and many are lacking the basic materials..

i.e pencils, pencils, markers, journals and other needed materials to successful in class.

My Project

Many students delay in getting started for fear and embarrassment of asking for a pencil or pen or paper, fear. This year I would like to supply each one of my 65 students with a folder and a pencil when they come to class.

Each child will be given a folder, pencil and a journal with their names on it.

These items will stay in class, and will be used to show student progress, relieve student stress, as well as to provide needed help to students without the worry of having a pencil or paper.
