Help me give my students the resources they need to learn during this pandemic by obtaining gift cards from Teacher Pay Teachers to obtain teaching resources.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The coronavirus pandemic has truly affected my classroom because it has disrupted the whole teaching and learning environment. Most of my students live in a low-income/high-poverty school district with close to 100% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch and about 20% are living in one of the four shelters around our school. Since they experience difficulties relating to their home situations, financial instability, poor parental involvement, and lack of motivation, this new approach to learning adds to their misfortunes.
Many of my students either don't have the ability to learn online, don't have the parental support (mainly due to language and academic abilities), and don't have the personal, direct teacher guidance they had in the classroom.
This transfers negatively to their learning. Hence, the reason why I am trying to make this current distance learning circumstance manageable for them, their parents, and for me. For the most part, I have been using various online resources, paper, printing materials, markers, etc. Despite their circumstances, I want to continue to make this an enjoyable learning experience for everyone.
My Project
With us facing the COVID-19 pandemic, our teaching and learning have to be adjusted to cater for the circumstance. Learning never stops because the act of teaching can be performed in any situation or environment. Therefore, the need to have access to resources that can be used virtually is important.
Having the access to teaching resources is a great way to be equipped for Distance Learning and virtual programming.
This is the reason why I am requesting gift cards from Teacher Pay Teachers. I want to be able to select resources that I can use virtually as I teach my students. In the event we return to school, I will still be able to use the resources to continue teaching my students. My students and I appreciate your help in making this journey of education a smooth and meaningful experience by helping us get the resources we need.
