No Mud On Our Feet!

Help me give my students bags of brown wood mulch and six tomato cages.

My Project

Our school has a large vegetable garden. Last year we gave over 200 pounds of veggies to the cafeteria and were used in the student and staff lunches. We grow pollinator plants as well. The mulch is a great, natural way to keep the ground warm and moist as well as to prevent weeds.

We need more mulch to keep the weeds down in the walkways.

It also helps prevent the walkways from becoming mud pits due to high traffic and prevents standing water (no mosquitos). It improves water retention by preventing evaporation.

We have found multiple uses for tomato cages in the garden. They can be used as trellises for vining vegetables and as support for our pepper plants as well. The kids love the banana sweet peppers and will eat them at lunch like eating an apple.
