My students need 30 pairs of scissors, 30 highlighters, 30 erasers, 30 pencil sharpeners, and 6 storage baskets in order to be prepared during all lessons this year.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Did your parents buy you all of the school supplies you needed when you were in school? My students do not always come to school prepared.
In order to work to the best of their ability my students need supplies of their own.
In the past, students in my class have always "shared" supplies. By this I mean arguing over whose eraser is whose, and one child telling another child they can't use their sharpener.
My Project
If each and every one of my students could have their own pencil sharpener, eraser, highlighter and scissor right on or in their desk, my life as a teacher would be much easier. If each student had these supplies I could use the storage baskets where students could freely pick and choose what supply they needed at the right time. They wouldn't have to be searching in their desk for something that is lost or walk around the room in search of a supply that no one else is using at the moment.
We would be able to accomplish a lot more during classroom lessons if everyone was prepared.
Students could pay more attention to what is being taught because they know what they need is right in front of them. What a relief it would be to know that the days of "sharing" supplies are over!
