My Students

Our students are known for their countless close calls with natural disasters but they continue to show up and passionately learn all that they can. They have endured a few hurricanes and the threat of lava more than once. Each one of them spreads smiles in the halls, courageously conquers their goals, and reaches higher than the stars.

Every one of them has a story to tell and a future to fill, we have the privilege to be a brick in their path.

When you visit with our beloved students, you can't help feeling like you're a welcomed guest in our family. They appreciate kindness and things in the most unconditional way. Allowing them to work in small focused groups, during a more of their instruction, values their eager spirit for learning that they show up with every day.

My Project

This year, with the General Education teachers, our Special Education department has diligently spread supports and services to reach all students. This partnership means more small groups, more teaching staff, and more collaborative learning across all settings.

We are in classrooms, working with small groups and using every minute to create targeted activities for every student.

Small group instruction is now possible to offer throughout the day for virtually every subject. The confines of a set classroom layout or moving furniture around every time we work in small groups can be a thing of the past.

With our department monies, we purchased 10 "The Surf Portable Lap Desks." After working with these fantastic desks for a few weeks, we discovered we need more!! 10 desks are only enough for one Special Education teacher to use during their day. We have 6 Special Education teachers weaving into classrooms, teaching in small groups of all levels. Any additional desks would help tremendously in our effort to provide effective small group instruction.
