This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What is worse than not having the perfect pencil box to keep all the supplies safe? My students love school supplies. They especially love to have plenty of sharpened pencils to use during the day. Many times students get upset when they lose pencils and crayons. These are very young kindergarten students that get upset easily when items go missing. They want things to be available as they pour their little hearts into completing a masterpiece, but then something goes missing and they get upset. These students already come into the classroom lacking the social emotional skills necessary to cope with difficult situations. They have been cooped up inside their home to keep them safe from Covid-19 and the dangers in their neighborhoods.

I want to eliminate the social disparity they already enter when they step into the classroom and provide the safest environment to learn.

The pencil boxes may seem like an insignificant item but they are vital to their well being. The pencil boxes will provide the space to keep pencils and crayons safely in one place. Students will be able to personalize them as the year progresses.
