My students are creative, energetic students who are hungry for more! They are caring, thoughtful and grateful for every opportunity. I get to see each of my students once a week.
No more recorders - ukuleles PLEASE!
At Tramway, we begin instrumental instruction in the second grade with an introduction to recorders. We continue to use this pre-band instrument through the 5th grade. As you might remember from YOUR elementary music days, the recorder gets old fast. I would love to be able to take my older students to the next level by introducing them to the ukulele. This is an instrument that can be played for a lifetime!
My Project
My students love music. They also love a challenge. By 5th grade, they are ready to explore more instruments. Having a class set of 12 instruments would allow me to partner teach each class. Students would get much need hands-on time with the instrument. If we can get the instruments soon, we could provide a concert for our end of the year PTO. We could take these portable instruments on the road and visit area rest homes to perform.
My students already have the interest they just need the equipment from you!
I have attended workshops on adding the ukulele to my curriculum. The students see this instrument on You-Tube. We are ready to move to a new musical adventure! Please consider a donation to help us get there!
