My students need math games and hands-on math activities to make mathematics visual. This will aid their understanding of mathematical concepts.

My Students

My 2nd graders are kind, creative, and full of wonder! They love asking questions and problem solving. They LOVE anything involving technology. Hands on projects and collaborative learning opportunities are when they really shine! My goal for my students is for them to leave my class with excitement and enthusiasm for learning.

My students are working on developing a growth mindset, overcoming obstacles and developing GRIT.

This is best practiced when students are faced with challenges. Students are encouraged to take risks and think critically.

My class is made up of students who live in a suburban area outside of St. Louis and students who live in the City of St. Louis. Each child is unique and brings different strengths to our school and classroom community. We are truly a "family" where each individual child feels valued. My students are really incredible and I feel so fortunate to get to work with them every day!

My Project

My students vary in their understanding of mathematics. I need hands-on learning activities and games that are truly differentiated. I want my struggling students, strong math students, and every student in between, to learn in a fun way and have a deep understanding of math concepts. These games and activities have different tiered levels so that each child can learn and develop stronger number sense.

Additionally, all of the activities I've chosen have a strong visual component which will allow students to really understand key math concepts.

Math skills like regrouping, equivalent fractions, telling time, and counting money/making change are all skills that students seem to need more practice with. Also students need practice with even basic addition and subtraction fact fluency. These games and activities I'm asking for provide students with that practice and are engaging, hands-on, and fun!
