My Students
Our early childhood school is now in its eleventh year serving the community. In our Pre-K class, that means over 180 students will have come and gone from this Pre-K classroom. Along with that, many other students have called our room home for enrichment classes, after-school programs, and summer camp.
Families send their precious children to our class every day, for us to help them take those first steps towards accomplishing great feats.
Children make this room their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. It's something we take pride in, and we hope to continue doing what we love to do and that nurtures their love of learning.
I've been teaching at my first and current school for six years. No matter who enters through that door, they are part of our school family. I hope to provide them with the absolute best education we can offer.
My Project
It is crucial for parents to be informed of what is going on in the classroom as well as being involved in their child's education. The task of educating a child is a partnership between the teacher and the parents.
When children are dismissed at 2:40 everyday, we all know the learning does not stop when they leave our classroom.
A parent's active involvement in their child's education is crucial to their success.
The goal of this project is to fulfill two goals in one. Board games can be very beneficial for a child's social development, fine and gross motor skill, eye hand coordination, memory, and following multiple step directions. With your help, our families can come into the classroom after school hours, learn to play different kinds of games, and take home a Pigeon memory matching game to keep. Other yard games will be used as a way for parents and kids to come in and take part of quality family time in school and to show them how much fun they can have without screens.
Many of our students are taken care of by their grandparents because their own parents are often busy working long hours to make ends meet. Simple games can be taught to their grandparents during family engagement time so they can play with their grandchild. When the games are taken home, the little time their parents may have off can be used as precious quality time they can spend their their child playing board games.
As our children become more familiar with the games, board games can become a stable play center in our classroom and our children can invite other students to learn and play with our class.
