My Project

As a first year art teacher, I am always looking for innovative processes and unique opportunities for my students. By far, students’ favorite art technique is color mixing. It’s like magic when primary colors join to create secondary colors and they would be perfectly happy only color mixing. However, there are numerous other learnings that also need to take place throughout the year. A light table with a variety of transparent manipulatives would allow my students to explore color mixing independently, in a less messy approach. They would have opportunities to utilize the light table upon finishing projects and during art stations. I envision 2-4 students working together to build and discover as they explore combinations of color.
