No Matter Where First Grade Will Be, Learning Will Happen!
Help me give my students an opportunity to understand the Math and Language Arts concepts that will be presented via Zoom meetings with a white board for both their daily writing and math activities.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I miss teaching my First Graders, I miss being there for them on a daily basis. The students of our school are always eager to learn and love hands-on learning. Most, if not all are from inner-city neighborhoods, with a whole lot happening within their worlds which sometimes can interfere with their learning. My First Grade population is an extremely diverse group with various learning levels as well.
My Project
During these times of uncertainty, schools will continue to plan and carry out best practices to keep our students safe and healthy. My project is for Sit Spots for when we do return and Math manipulatives for learning while students are engaged as remote learners. I want to be able to provide Social Distancing procedures and using the Sit Spots will ensure such guidelines. Likewise, the use of whiteboards is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Having used a center-based model in Math, students will be able to use their whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards will allow me to see exactly what my students are doing, as well as provide opportunities to show and share their work. The individual Math manipulatives will be used for remote learning as well as for when we do return to school.
