it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I’m reaching out with an exciting and meaningful request that will bring joy, connection, and critical thinking to my high school ELA classroom: puzzles and educational games.
As an English teacher, I know that literacy isn’t just built through textbooks and essays—it also grows through problem-solving, collaboration, and play.
That’s why I want to bring in a collection of puzzles and word-based games that challenge students to think creatively, build vocabulary, and engage with language in new and meaningful ways.
Games like Bananagrams, Scrabble, storytelling dice, and crossword challenges will give students opportunities to reinforce ELA skills in low-pressure, high-fun environments. These resources will be used during brain breaks, early-finishers’ time, small group centers, and even as warm-ups to jumpstart lessons. They’ll also help foster community in the classroom by encouraging teamwork, laughter, and healthy competition.
Puzzles like word searches, logic games, and visual brain teasers will support student focus and resilience—two skills that translate directly into improved reading comprehension and writing fluency.
