This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine keeping a group of 25 kindergarten students engaged in learning all at once? My students need to have center activities to keep them engaged, while I work with small groups.

My school is located in California.

We are located in an area considered to be high poverty. My students have an exceptional ability to learn. However, with so many cuts to education, resources can be scarce. My students learn best through hands-on activities. That is why they would benefit most from small center activities.

My Project

The Math and Language Arts learning centers I requested will give my students an opportunity to work cooperatively in small groups. These centers will keep my students engaged in interesting activities, while reinforcing previously taught skills. These learning centers will also give them an opportunity to learn with hands-on activities. During that time, I will focus on students who need additional help to reach grade level standards.

I have discovered that my students reinforce their learning by working with each other.

The centers I requested will give my students the opportunity to communicate with each other, to problem solve, and to negotiate while they learn.
