My students need a digital still camera, a digital video camera, as well as four SD memory cards and CD/DVD discs for our class to allow my students to combine multimedia production principles into a group of hands-on units of discovery.
Academic integration is the goal; education needs to make a connection between “real life” and school work. A multimedia production unit will enhance our Teen Living Class by incorporating technology skills into our curriculum. We try to do many different community service projects.
I feel that it is important for our students to give back to their community.
I teach approximately 200 seventh and eighth grade students "Teen Living" in a rural, low income/high poverty community. Two thirds of the student body receive free or reduced lunch benefits. This grant would allow my students to combine multimedia production principles into a group of hands-on units of discovery. We can create educational videos for our local elementary school to use the knowledge we have learned in class to share with others.
