My students need a digital still camera, a digital video camera, as well as four SD memory cards and CD/DVD discs for our class to allow my students to combine multimedia production principles into a group of hands-on units of discovery.
Academic integration is the goal; education needs to make a connection between “real life” and school work. A multimedia production unit will enhance our Teen Living Class by incorporating technology skills into our curriculum. We try to do many different community service projects.
I feel that it is important for our students to give back to their community.
I teach approximately 200 seventh and eighth grade students "Teen Living" in a rural, low income/high poverty community. Two thirds of the student body receive free or reduced lunch benefits. This grant would allow my students to combine multimedia production principles into a group of hands-on units of discovery. We can create educational videos for our local elementary school to use the knowledge we have learned in class to share with others.
My students need a digital still camera, digital video camera, as well as four SD memory cards and CD/DVD discs for our class. Without this equipment teaching this unit would be impossible for my students to experience the production of video and presentation media. We need your help to make this vision possible. Your assistance with this project will ensure that my students make the connection of school to “real life”.
I would like to thank you for considering helping my classes to design presentations to enhance their education.
This will be accomplished by giving them a practical application for the standards being addressed in our Teen Living classroom through self-expression and multimedia production.
