My Students
This year I am responsible for the education of 20 four year old students. My students are caring and affectionate. This is the first school experience for most of them and, unfortunately, it is taking place in the midst of a pandemic.
My students are learning how to navigate learning during a pandemic.
Although we are in close quarters, they are becoming more proficient at demonstrating ways to keep themselves and their peers safe and healthy. They are learning how to smile with their eyes, as they wear their masks for the safety of themselves and their classmates. They practice good hygiene by washing and sanitizing their hands.
My Project
My students’ first learning experience is taking place in the midst of a pandemic. While my students are naturally curious and love engaging in meaningful play experiences, it is my job to make sure they stay healthy and to keep germs at bay.
In order to keep the transmission of germs to a minimum, I am constantly sanitizing the learning spaces and learning materials that my students use from day to day.
I model and have students practice good hand washing throughout the day. I encourage students to wear their masks so that germs won’t be shared. I try to have many masks on hand so that as they become soiled with body fluids, they can be discarded and students given a fresh mask. I try all that I can to keep my students safe and healthy.
