Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Based in a small city in South Jersey, my public elementary school is a diverse community of learners. Our student population includes many high-needs learners and over ninety percent of our student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch due to the families' low socioeconomic status.
My inclusion class is made up of ESL and Special Education students and it is great to see all of my students collaborating and having fun using their hands to create together!
Despite the difficulties my students endure in and out of the classroom, they truly enjoy coming to school. It is great to see all of my students collaborating and having fun working together!
My Project
My students love to play with all sorts of Legos and magnetic tiles, as well as many other types of manipulatives. But, since our classrooms are really only truly scrubbed and cleaned at the end of the school year, the rest of the year is a breeding ground for germs and other unwanted critters. I want my students to have these Sterlite Gasket Box with Lids to keep their manipulatives and toys clean from all unwanted germs and pests. We integrate the use of iPads with manipulatives and we need to clean those screens with wipes.
Keeping students and teachers in a healthy environment contributes to effective teaching and learning.
The materials that I am asking for will help my students sustain a healthy and clean classroom for the remainder of the year and for years to come.
