No Fear When Reading in English Class

Help me give my students books. I've selected books that will help me to differentiate my instruction to my students. The No Fear books give the original text and modern text to help students comprehend the story.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income school district in WNC, the majority of my students come from low income homes. They are bright and determined to get a better education than their parents. My students apply to our school because it will provide them with a two year associate degree and a high school diploma. These student are hardworking and want to attend a four year university once they complete our Early College Program. Attending my school is a limited opportunity because we only take approximately fifty students per year.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my students learning because these books are a resource that will help my struggling readers comprehend a difficult required reading of a classic literature reading. In the No Fear books, struggling readers will see the original text and beside it will be a modern summary of the text. This helps my students see the difference in Old English vs modern English. In the No Fear Shakespeare books, the writing is easier to understand and perform. My students enjoy a good play but are reluctant when it comes to Shakespeare because they don't understand the language. These books will make it possible for them to read something they enjoy.
