This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the excitement of pep rallies and bonfires and the sound of fans cheering in a stadium? Think of the anticipation and thrill of waiting for those Friday Night Lights in high school! I know I do! It's one of the reasons I became a head cheer coach. My cheer squad shares this same passion and excitement. Although my first year as head coach was cut short due to COVID-19, this has not stopped my squad members from wanting to cheer.
Cheerleading is a display of discipline, practice, dedication, determination, skill and athleticism.
Although my squad members have little to no background in cheer, they are passionate and motivated to build school spirit.
This is my eighth year teaching at an economically disadvantaged school. I took on the role of head cheer coach last year, and I am leading a brand new group of squad members. They are eager to cheer, tumble and stunt. Many of my squad members lack the funds to purchase cheer equipment or accessories. Finding a place to practice is also a challenge. Although we face many challenges, we are prepared to conquer them together!
My Project
A successful cheer program consists of passion, skill, dedication and athleticism. My cheer squad is eager to build a cheer program that creates school and community spirit. The products I have selected will continue to contribute to my cheer program this year.
Giving my cheer squad the opportunity to practice and attend school events with the right cheer equipment and cheer clothing will enhance confidence and performance.
Student involvement in a economically disadvantaged school boosts academic success in the classroom. Cheerleaders DO make a difference! Your contributions will not only build model students but promote a sense of pride in their community.
