No Excuses, Let's Keep Learning!

Help me give my students 5 iPads to provide opportunities for students to continue to grow as independent, eager, life long learners during these unprecedented times.

My Students

My second grade class consists of 19 students, 3 of whom are considered special needs students. Although I have students who are not considered English Language Learners, I do have many students who are bilingual. My students demonstrate the passion, empathy, and perseverance to be leaders and make a positive impact in the community. They realize positive work ethics leads to a successful future but hard work does not come easy.

During this pandemic, I have the opportunity to make a difference in their lives, but more importantly provide them the opportunity to better themselves by providing them with the tools and knowledge to be the best they can be.

The exchange of dialogue between a teacher and student or the students themselves is a very powerful tool. In this class every student is given the opportunity to learn from each other and inspire others through their words and positive actions.

My Project

This pandemic has brought upon many challenges to both educators and students. Students have been forced to learn in a virtual setting, as well as complete and turn in assignments through various apps on an electronic device. Currently, the existing iPads in my classroom do not have the capability for students to access the newer versions of state approved educational apps such as SeeSaw.

How amazing would it be for students to be able to record, write, and take pictures of their engineering inquiry science project assigned by the science teacher!

In technology class, students will be able to access the science computer app called code.org. For library, students will be able to read e-books and complete the assigned task such as writing and drawing a picture of a favorite character in a story. By having these iPads available, students will be able to complete assignments for their science, technology, library, and other classes through SeeSaw or other assigned apps. These iPads will also be used for students to engage in collaborative conversations with their teachers, as these classes are taught virtually. Students will be engaged and accountable for their own learning.

By having a set of working iPads, it will have a positive impact on students achievement and empower students to continue to be life long learners.
