My Students

Students in the "high needs" category, often do not have opportunities to follow their dreams. I am all about making the impossible possible and their dreams for the future an obtainable reality. My students come from countries around the world. They have traveled from Africa, Asia, South America, and across North America, as children of refugees and families that move frequently, due to low-income earning ability. The unique and difficult experiences of my students are what make my students some of the most powerful and determined young minds you could ever hope to meet.

My students have experienced adversity.

In our classroom, we rise above it. My students are resilient and brilliant. They have incredible leadership abilities. They help each other and understand the power of teamwork. We build a classroom community and care for each other. When one student succeeds, they all celebrate the success achieved by their classmate. These bonds are forged with time, shared tribulation, and the universal truth that every single student in our class has enormous potential.

My Project

Our school does not have an art teacher in residence, so it is up to us classroom teachers to provide ample opportunities for our students to explore and create visual arts. For me this is NO PROBLEM as I LOVE teaching art and integrating it into our curriculum!

Our students need to experience making visual art, especially as first graders!

They are engaging with the world around them, and learning so many new concepts the materials in this project will provide an amazing springboard of creativity for our students and support me as art is essential for learning and growth in our classroom.

With the items in this project we will have an amazing year of painting! This project includes a drying rack for wet paintings, a class set of watercolors, crayons, finger paint, assorted paintbrushes, a COLOR PRINTER, lamination pouches, folders, paper protectors, watercolor paper, colored cardstock, glue sticks, markers, and more!
