My Project

As a special education teacher, my students with disabilities struggle emotionally with confidence and understanding their own feelings or the feelings of others. Many of my students struggle regulating their emotions. They are learning to identify what emotion they are experiencing, and how to change their feelings to be more positive. The stories in the picture books will give opportunities to understand what they are experiencing and then we can work through finding some strategies they can use as they need.

Our classroom will become an emotional life skill learning lab as students work to identify their big emotions.

These books and activities will help students learn resiliency skills as they work through their emotions. This in turn will help the students gain confidence and empathy. These books and other items will provide visible and tangible reminders of what they might be feeling. It will be exciting to see my students connect to their feelings and even how others might feel.
