Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a first grade teacher, I see a huge need for an increase in students' social emotional skills.
Social skills and social emotional learning are an integral part of today's school curriculum and we need to prepare our students with the skills and mindset that will help them navigate the greater community.
Some of the skills I teach to my first graders to help them with their social emotional learning include greeting others, using manners, sharing and taking turns, being a kind friend, how to identify and manage their feelings, and more. In order to make my lessons more engaging for students I like to read a story that pairs with the skill at hand. I'm asking for support in acquiring the different sets of Ninja Life Hack books because I believe my students will find the Ninja characters colorful, fun, and engaging. These books are specifically designed to teach social emotional learning and I would love to be able to use them with my class!
