Nifty Nonfiction Novels for Fourth Grade!

My students need nonfiction books to peak their interest in people and places around the world! The Who Was? and What Was? series presents informational text in a fun and kid friendly language that students love!

My Students

We have an amazing group of 4th graders who are in need of books for the classroom. I'm not talking about workbooks or curriculum; I am talking about books that will take them through history, allow them to see through the eyes of another, and teach them what it means to be inspirational.

My students are from various backgrounds and ethnic makeup.

We have 26 students ranging from ages 8 to 10. Most of my students come from low to mid income family homes, many on the free and reduced-priced lunch program. Some of these students have personal libraries at home, others rely on my classroom and our school for books to read.

My Project

My classroom library is a place my students really enjoy. I want to make it as diverse and educational as possible so there is something for all of my students. I want to help diversify not only the content within our library but the book levels available to students as well.

These books will help to increase student interest in nonfiction material and will enable students to read independently at their own grade level.

I have asked students what books they enjoy reading and the Who Was? and What Was? are at the top of their list! Every book that is donated is treated with respect and the love and care they deserve!
