Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

According to the California Department of Education, the age of the books in a school library is just as important as how many books are available for students, and because of this, a good library collection should be constantly evolving.

The ways in which we interact with the world around us, the information available to us, and the lens through which we view history are all things that change as we move forward, therefore, it is especially important that we offer new and updated nonfiction collections for our students.

Access to the internet opens up a world of knowledge, but it does not negate the need for books. Studies show that reading print materials is both better for our eyes and for our retention of knowledge.

The addition of these nonfiction titles, such as The Who Is series, If You Take Away The Otter, and The Last Straw: Kids vs. Plastics, will help us on our journey to provide our students with the updated library collection that they deserve to help them develop a love for reading informational text.
