My Project

When I graduated high school (and even college), I knew next to nothing about personal finance. I have had to learn almost everything by trial and error. I want to do better for our students. While we have mini units about some areas of personal finance, I find that is the area we as a society fail when it comes to preparing teens for the future. I want to begin turning that around in my community.

According to a recent survey, 82% of parents cite fear as a barrier to talking about finances with kids.

(PR Newswire, 2019) Since we also focus more on global economics than personal finance in our curriculum, I want to begin providing resources and mini lessons to my students about various personal finance topics.

These are some of the most recommended books in various social media groups I'm in by personal finance teachers. I want to add these to our resources for our classes.
