Newsworthy First Graders! Seeking Scholastic Magazine

My students need 24 subscriptions to Scholastic News-Grd 1 to read throughout the year during our Daily 5 reading time, as well as other opportunities for instruction using nonfiction text.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." ~Dr. Seuss. What a great opportunity for high quality, high interest, non fiction text right at our kiddos fingertips all year long!

I absolutely love these kids.

They come every day so ready to learn. It's amazing to see them not only become readers through the year, but develop a love and passion for books. They are so eager to get their hands on text. That's why this project is perfect. Information relevant to their interest and on their level!

My Project

I remember being so excited to receive something similar to this when I was in elementary school. We very much looked forward to getting our copies in the mail. I want that for my students as well. I'm so anxious to be able to provide each child with this exceptional magazine. I hope that they are inspired by the stories and engaged in the information. I plan to incorporate these magazines across content areas such as shared reading, writing, and science. Each student will be able to keep their magazine in their book box for independent or partner reading, in addition to whole group discussions.

Since this project includes a class set of magazines, EACH student will benefit.

These Scholastic News Magazines are also designed to grow with students throughout the year. Providing this resource is providing a child with their very own magazine. How amazing is that? I know that students will be engaged, gain confidence, and just overall enjoy the opportunity to stay connected with current news while becoming better readers. They will LOVE it!!
