My Students

I am a third grade teacher at a school in West Valley City Utah. The students at my school are very diverse. They are coming from many different backgrounds that include English Language Learners, refugees, students with learning difficulties and low socioeconomic backgrounds. With all these factors, many of my students are below grade level in math and reading.

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says "I'm Possible"!

I try my best to make my classroom as welcoming, fun and safe as possible to create the best learning environment for my students. Each day my students come to school happy, excited and ready to learn.

COVID-19 has affected my students tremendously. They have not had a "normal" school year since they were in kindergarten. As a third grade teacher, I am seeing major holes in my students education due to quarantine time and distance learning. I am trying my best to close these gaps and help them succeed at a third grade level in all academic areas.

My Project

I would like to get Scholastic News, Science Spin and Super Science for my classroom. Scholastic provides each student a paper as well as a digital copy that could be used for classroom or distance learning.

My students will be able to apply these learning opportunities to real world experiences and enhance their learning.

To help meet all learning styles, Scholastic offers print, videos, games and extension activities. It will help in their reading, comprehension and vocabulary. Students will be able to take the magazines home and share the new information learned with their family.
