My Students

My students come from all walks of life. Even though many of them come from high poverty backgrounds, they come in with a smile. I have a diverse group of students who come together as a classroom family everyday. I am pleasantly surprised at how much they care for each other as well as other citizens in our community.

A few shining examples of student-led projects include a school-wide kid to kid coat drive, trick or treat for UNICEF and raising food to donate to a local community food bank.

Students thought of these projects on their own through the inquiry-based International Baccalaureate units.

These globally minded citizens are still kids. They enjoy learning through games and other hands-on experiences. I want to keep them engaged in school. The more positive experiences I can provide, the more kids come to school to be a part of the community. Please help me support them as they support others.

My Project

My students enjoy reading non-fiction, but by sixth grade they have exhausted all of the books in our elementary school library. These subscriptions to Scholastic magazines will guarantee a fresh monthly supply of stories written just for their age level.

Without your support, we will not have access to this material.

These subscriptions are expensive. Scope approaches difficult issues that students are nervous to ask about. One particular article discussed the dangers of vaping. Students were able to read and discuss the dangers from a trusted source. Please consider gifting this subscription to my students.
