Help me give my students the opportunity to explore news casting, video editing and STEM education, and CAD with 3D printing.

My Project
In this interdisciplinary STEM lesson, fourth-grade students will create a news broadcast while integrating 3D printing technology using the requested 3D printer, the video camcorder, and puppets. This hands-on experience will foster teamwork, research skills, communication, and basic 3D modeling awareness, showcasing the real-world applications of STEM in media and technology.
Materials: Computers, 3D printing equipment, research materials, art supplies, presentation software.
At the Academy as a STEM teacher, I am in contact with all kiddos grades 3,4, and 5. Kids love my classes as they find relevance in their current and futures lives. With the list of products I presented, Students in fourth grade will be able to create a dialogue that explains what 3D printing and CAD design are. To make it more fun and engaging, students that have parents that signed a media waver will get the opportunity to present what they are learning to other students in the surrounding grades via a video recording presentation. Some kids are very camera shy and some kids do not have a media waver signed so, puppets will be a way they can get involved too.
For me it's very important for kids to build confidence with their social and emotional well being. Students will have the opportunity to work in teams and plan on how they want the set to look, who is master of ceremonies, how to write a script for multiple presenters and so much more. Other groups will be presenting what they learned with computer assisted drafting, using slicing software to create a G-code for 3d printing, and showcase final products created by students. Another team of students will present why 3D printing is important for home and industry use and explain how a 3D printer works from deciphering the g-code, to all the inner parts.
