This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Can you imagine being 5 years old, in a new country, and unable to speak the language of everyone around you? That can be so scary for such young students. One thing all 5 year olds can relate to, regardless of language, is play. The dolls being requested in this project will help my newcomer students gain a sense of comfort in the classroom. These items will provide a bridge to their English speaking classmates to help develop their English language skills through play. Not only can this encourage language development between students of different languages, but it will also bring comfort to students as they transition into a new setting.
