This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have 24 wonderful third graders who are all at different levels and I am trying to get organized in the new year to give my students all the resources that they individually need to succeed. Part of this means creating level resources to reach students at each individual level and I need these supplies to organize our classroom so that students know where they need to go for materials and additional support that are at their level.
Every student in my class has unique needs, and they need to know where to find work to support their learning!
Every day we have an hour-long small group time period in which students are being pulled for intervention and reading groups by other teachers and myself. This means that there are at any given time up to 20 students doing independent work with little guidance. They have a list of achievable tasks, but many of my students need additional work, whether it be strategy worksheets that can help them access grade level work or additional more challenging worksheet. Right now, I am relying on putting out piles of worksheets with paper clips which often results in papers getting crushed, trampled, and disorganized so students can't find what they need to be successful.
These products will help me prep and organize additional practice with every strategy we learn and work on in class so that students know where to go when they need extra help and there is not an adult immediately available. These supplies will also help me encourage independence and help students become responsible for their own learning.
