Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These items will help set this school year up for success by allowing students to be hands-on and creative while learning new math skills and reinforcing prior skills. Student whiteboards, fidget chair bands, and creative bulletin board designs all support learning in different but complementary ways by engaging students' attention, promoting active participation, and accommodating different learning styles. The white boards encourage active learning and immediate feedback. Students can respond to questions in real time, allowing me to gauge understanding instantly. They also provide more hands-on and less intimidating than raising a hand. It also helps visual and kinesthetic learners by allowing them to write out ideas. The fidget bands for the chairs support focus and self-regulation, especially for students with high energy or attention challenges. It students a discrete outlet for movement, which can reduce disruptions. It provides an inclusive environment by supporting neurodiverse students (ex. ADHD, autism) without singling them out. Create a visually stimulating and informative environment. Beautiful bulletin displays like anchor charts, vocabulary walls, or thematic boards reinforce concepts. Constant exposure to key ideas helps cement them in students' minds.

My goal is create a space where students can visualize math and be able to conceptual hard topics.

The students at Irma Rangel have visually creative minds. I want to build on that strength. I will create visual summaries of key topics, properties of shapes, or rules of exponents.

Using drawing tools to sketch problems, annotate solutions, or work through problems collaboratively will enhance understanding. These tools contribute to a multisensory, student-centered classroom where learners are more likely to stay engaged, feel supported, and remember content. They're small changes with potentially big payoffs in student motivation and performance. Thank you for your support for students and their future learning!
