This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an educator, I understand that my classroom is not only a place for academic exploration but just as importantly, a home. My students understand the community we create is one of respect, understanding, empathy, and integrity. These past few years have been incredibly strenuous for all of us involved in education. I want to ensure my students have clear expectations and structure within our classroom to help them thrive. One way to help our classroom run smoothly is to reorganize our classroom library!

I have spent years cultivating my classroom library to reflect our classroom community and to engage all students to become avid readers, but with this overflow of novels, our library has become difficult to navigate.

I want to spend the time to reorganize this classroom library with more book bins and a coding system to ensure students can find the books they are looking for. The small blue book bins will be used to hold our new chapter books and the larger blue book bins will host picture books and mentor texts. Other bins will host classroom community materials. The whiteboard magnetic holders will hold whiteboard markers, erasers, and spray to ensure our learning can continue with all materials we require at our fingertips. My students are incredible leaders and love to help keep our classroom running smoothly. With the help of these resources and the protocols to follow, I know my students will feel a sense of pride as they help keep our classroom clean and organized!
