This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I teach In a Title 1 school where we have 90% ESL (English speakers of other languages) students. The students come to school daily eager to learn, but don't always have the supplies they need to complete their class work. I would like to help my kindergarten students come to school knowing they will be able to be successful in class.
New is always better isn't it?
I would like for my students to start a new school year with new supplies. I need sandwich containers, bottle glue and sponges so I can make glue sponges to use with cut and paste activities, page protectors so students can practice tracing and writing their names. They will write with a dry erase marker, wipe it off and do it all over again. Each child will have their own notebook with pages of their name, letters. shapes, sight words and numbers to trace in it.
I also need small magnifying glasses so students can do an activity called "I spy sight words", where tiny sight words are hidden in a picture. They will search for them and when they find they they will record them on their paper.
All of the things I am requesting would be things I would have to buy out of pocket. With your help I can be sure my students will start the year of right.
