This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As we are halfway through the school year, necessary supplies such as notebooks and pencils are becoming scarce. We have done many fun and engaging projects (posters, gallery walks, academic games, etc.) already, putting supplies such as markers, pens, and glue to good use. My students enjoy being able to express themselves through their work, so I always try to make sure I have the supplies available for them to do so. We also do many activities where I ask them to move around, so the clipboards will help them to complete work without having to worry about past notes falling out of their folders.
In addition to supplies needed to meet academic needs, I also want to make sure that my students emotional needs are being met.
The sensory stickers will help my students who need something to fidget with to do so whenever they need. I also have an activity titled "Welcoming Wednesdays," where I draw two random names each class period on Wednesdays to celebrate them being there. The toys on this list will be part of what they are able to choose from as a reward; they absolutely love this every week, and I look forward to adding fun items that make them excited to be there to have their name drawn.
Helping fund my project helps me to meet all the needs my students come into my classroom with; whether it is a supplies need or a sensory/emotional need.
