This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first-year teacher at a priority school in DC. Our school has been labeled as a "40-40" school, meaning that we are among the lowest performing schools in our district. One hundred percent of our kiddos receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school population also has a high number of special education students. In my room, I have a variety of learners, including students with ADHD, speech impediments, learning disorders, and emotional disturbance.
We don't receive supplies from parents or the school, so we are trying to fill the gap with help from donors!
With your help, we can create a loving, warm learning environment for my first graders where they have access to all the materials they need to learn!
My Project
Our Eureka math curriculum includes lots of building things out of clay/playdough - but all of our play dough is dried out and mixed together! The Play-Do will be used for our hands-on math block. The plastic folders will be used to hold our math worksheets and the C-Line Classroom Connector School-to-Home Folders will replace the ones that have gotten lost. These basic supplies will help us finish our kindergarten year off strong!
We are officially half way through kindergarten; We are also through many of our basic supplies (markers, crayons, pencils etc) and need a refresh to restock our shared table caddies.
