This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Teaching in a high poverty/low-income school, my students are faced with several challenges outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. My students are bright, ambitious and eager learners.

Even though it has become extremely difficult and sometimes frustrating to educate without needed supplies, our students still come to school eager to learn.

Our school rarely has extra funding for enriching material, and if they do, the funds are used for older students. Many of my students' families will never have additional money to purchase educational materials; therefore, I hope to be able to provide a fun and interesting way of learning so my students can succeed in life.

My Project

I am asking for Twistable crayons for my students. We need these Twistable crayons to replace our old ones at the reading, math and writing center. I strive to make our learning centers exciting, difficult yet worthwhile. These Twistable crayons and glue will be used once their work has been completed at each station. The ending expectation for these working stations is to illustrate their math word problems, and to illustrate their writing prompt at the writing center. One might wonder, why illustration needs to be done? Well some of my students will learn better and they might understand the concept of addition or subtraction after viewing their illustration. I am also asking for new journals to replace the ones from last year and provide my students with a fresh start at the beginning of the school year. These journals will be used in our writing and math centers daily. The wipes would be placed at each center so the students could disinfect their working area.

By helping this project come to life, you are helping my students become successful and life long learners.

A few crayons, journals, and Clorox wipes may not seem like a big deal. However, to a group of eager students, these supplies can mean the world to them. I just want my students to be successful learners. These materials will bring a lot of cheer into our classroom!
