Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are ambitious, goal-oriented, and full of questions! They love projects that are both challenging and engaging that allow them to think outside the box. My students come from a low social, economic background. More than 90% of our students receive free lunch. Despite the adversities, they come to school each day ready to try new things. They are my inspiration!
My Project
As a third-grade teacher, I strive to ensure my students have every resource and tool needed to succeed. My students need basic school supplies for classroom activities. Due to delays in shipment, my school has not received all the supplies required for this school year. Most of my students need pencils to take home. Every week we go through two or three packs of pencils. Lately, we have been working on classroom activities that require students to draw or color. The markers and crayons that I have are not enough for my twenty-eight students. With the help of amazing donors, I can have enough crayons and markers for all students.
Starting the school year with the necessary supplies and materials helps make the school year successful and exciting for the students.
The printer will become helpful to meet the needs of each of my learners. When students are done with an activity with a printer, I can have the facility to print activities for the students to complete independently. Right now the printers that we use at the school are broken. Every week I take a trip to Staples to print out any work needed for the week. Having a printer in the classroom will save me time and permit me to create more differentiated lessons.
