My students need Me & My Family Board Book Library, 8-Sheet Strip-Cut Paper, CD, and Credit Card Shredder, and Kids Pod Swing Seat Hammock Sensory Swing w/ Swivel Hook for daily use and safety protection.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a severe and profound special education classroom. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Our community is a multicultural, poverty-stricken area. Many of the students in our district face adult problems every day.
My students also have a multitude of disabilities, from physical to mental; however, that does not slow them down.
Special education preschool is special. I build the foundation in these students' education. My students teach me so much about enjoying life and laughing. We fill our room with love and learning every day.
My Project
Hello! Thank you for stopping by. Our class utilizes the TEACCH, Unique and PECS learning methods. As such we go through a lot of laminating sheets and Velcro dots every year. The batteries are for our assistive technology, specifically our vocal output devices. These are "buttons" the students press to express their needs/ wants without vocally saying them. They give our non verbal students another way to communicate. Much of our paperwork is confidential. The shredder is to safely dispose of old/ unneeded paperwork without having to leave the classroom.
Toys!
What classroom doesn't love new toys? Our students could use toys that reflect what they see in the "real" world. Young students tend to visit the doctor quite a bit. Having the ability to play doctor will help them become more familiar with what they will see. The board books are perfect for my students to use and tough enough to last more than 1 year.
