My students need a comfy thinking space. When having lessons on the floor, my students are more engaged and focused and I want to provide a new carpet for the next school year.

My Students
My students come from different backgrounds and have unique stories to share. Living in SF, we have families from different cultures, ethnicities, and socioeconomic status, which means different perspectives. However, they do have many things in common as well. The most important being their genuine curiosity about the world we live in. Yet, learning about our world is only the beginning.
One thing I do try to emphasize with my students is to not only learn about the world, but the role we play in shaping it.
I want my students to understand their history. I want to empower them to mold their future for themselves and those less fortunate.
My Project
At our desks is where we do our writing and reading. However, it is the carpet where we do our thinking. It is where we come together for lessons and learn from one another. It's a place where we support and even challenge each other. It is where most of our growth takes place.
The carpet is where we unite and support one another through our individual thinking processes.
In our sharing, it gives us the opportunity to strengthen our ways of thinking through collaboration. From morning community circles to group discussions from a read aloud to team building activities, this is where inspiration strikes.
