Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach first grade at a two-way immersion school where both native Spanish speakers and native English speakers come together to learn a new language from one another. My sweet, bilingual students are hard-working, kind, and a joy to teach. I am so proud to be their teacher!
I want to provide my students with books to help support their social-emotional learning.
Due to the COVID pandemic, this is the first normal year of school my first graders have had. Their preschool year was taught mostly through virtual learning, and throughout kindergarten, they were required to be masked and socially distant from one another. For this reason, I would like to have books about emotions on hand to teach my students social-emotional skills. These books will be used for whole class read alouds and lessons, as well as available for students to read independently.
