Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am fortunate to transition into my new role as a first-grade teacher this year at our culturally diverse elementary school in Brooklyn! As the former Wellness Teacher, I had the distinct honor of teaching many of my incoming first graders last year. Due to budget constraints, I will be returning to the classroom ready to live each day with 25 of the most enthusiastic first-graders!
This year's students will be the first group of students in this newly formed first-grade class.
It's hard to tell who is more excited for first grade, the students or their teacher!
My Project
When creating a new class, the school is able to purchase some new supplies such as tables, chairs, and coat hooks. However, we need your help to make our room ready for our newest students!
To ensure we have a successful year together, I have requested a small area rug and salt lamps to warm up our room and create a calming and comfortable reading nook.
I've also requested pencils, pencil grippers, book pouches, and wooden mailbox organizers to help our friends stay organized and ready to learn. The stools will provide opportunities for differentiated seating options in the classroom. The game pieces will be used when we play literacy and math games to reinforce recently introduced topics.
